motion be like water... at rest, like a mirror. Resound
like the echo; be subtle, as though nonexistent.
Give a man a fish
and you feed him for a day.
Teach him how to fish
and you feed him for a lifetime.
Being deeply loved by
someone
gives you strength,
while loving someone deeply
gives you courage.
One who is too insistent on his own views,
finds few to
agree with him.
Just remember, when you should grab something, grab it;
when you should let go, let go.
Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep
sharpening your knife and it will blunt.
Fill your house with gold and jade, and it can no longer
be guarded.
Govern a great nation as you would cook a small fish.
Do
not overdo it.
Health is the greatest possession. Contentment is
the greatest treasure.
Confidence is the greatest friend. Non-being is the
greatest
joy.
Be
a spot on the ground where nothing is growing, where
something might be planted, a seed, from the Absolute.
When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t
compare or compete, everybody will respect you.
The way you can go isn't the real way. The name you can
say isn't the real name, so the unwanting soul sees what
is hidden, and the ever wanting soul sees only what it
wants.
